The Beer Diaries World Tour: Belize Trailer
Posted by Greg Zeschuk on October 2, 2013.
The Beer Diaries is proud to present World Tour, a new show dedicated to exploring beer culture around the world. Hosted and directed by Mike Mann (the director of The Beer Diaries), World Tour is part travel show, part beer show and reflects Mike’s love of exploring new cultures, as well as drinking their beer!
The first series of episodes takes places in Belize where Mike explores the legacy of Belikin Beer and its importance to the locals. Mike also meets up with famed musician Aurelio Martinez to learn about Garifuna culture and music. Aurelio provides all of the music for the Belize Episodes.
Pull up a chair, grab a beer and some sunscreen and enjoy the trailer.
Mike Mann: In February I decided to return to Belize. I’ve come to investigate the beer culture from the people who make it to the people who drink it regularly.
Justin Pu: In the morning about 11:00 or 10:00 people usually start drinking or if you’re local here you drink 24/7.
Man 1: Belikin give us a job promoting you worldwide, international.
Mike Mann: I start with a company who has had a strong hold on the market for generations.
Shelly Bowen-Stonesifer: Our distribution reach is absolutely every corner of Belize, we reach everyone and those that we don’t reach, find us. So we’re everywhere. We’re here to stay.
Mike Mann: I found newcomers who wanted to operate a different way.
Michelle Becker: When we first came down here many moons ago we enjoyed the current beer offering but I did feel that there was more that could be added. That there could be more diversity and since we’re such avid beer lovers we wanted to share our passion with the people of Belize.
Mike Mann: Along the way I made new friends, explored cultures old and new.
Andy Bahadurs: After the ball game usually the losers would sacrifice.
Mike Mann: And look into the bonds that tie us all together.
Man 2: We are the same people around the world. We are human. Same people.
Mike Mann: The further I went, the more Belize gave.
