This 650ml bottle pours a cloudy, medium apricot amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and creamy dirty white head, which leaves some dissolving iceberg profile lace around the glass as it quickly beats it outta town.
It smells of juicy guava, mixed tart red berries, grainy pale malt, a lesser edgy wheatiness, lactose, a touch of earthy sourness, and some mild leafy and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, some muddled dark exotic fruitiness, ethereal yeasty funk, a mild milkiness, and more understated earthy and musty verdant hoppiness. The carbonation is adequate in its palate-pleasing frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and quite smooth, with a nice aerosol creaminess there almost from the get-go. It finishes on the sweet side, nice and malty and indistinctly fruity.
Overall, this is another example of a sour that hits all the right notes for those of us who aren’t exactly enamoured by the style – the fruity aspect and the down-low wild yeasty ‘character’ contributing heavily to the cause. Easy to drink, and quite refreshing, as implied by the very name of this offering.
