This 22oz bottle pours a slightly hazy, pale golden amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent meshed gear lace around the glass as it quickly subsides.
It smells of dry, toasted pale malt, bitter earthy forest floor detritus, some musky yeast, generic citrus rind, and further floral, leafy hop notes. The taste is more bitter green pine extract, dried orange and grapefruit peel, grainy, bready pale malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, and additional herbal, leafy, and floral hop acridity. The bubbles are rather supportive in their well-rounded frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and a bit too edgy to be deemed outright smooth, but it’s all right, nonetheless. It finishes off-dry, the gritty malt experiencing a form of resurgence, while the complex hop bitterness lingers about, over, and around.
A pleasant enough west-coast styled American Pale Ale, as displayed directly front and center on the label. Not sure what this has to do with Spring, other than possessing a sense of freshness, which for beer can be anytime of the year. Whatever, this is enjoyable, and worthy of sipping on while those last niggly bits of snow melt. Or maybe a Spring snowstorm to keep us all in line, eh Momma Nature?
