The Review

Part of this brewery’s ‘Patio Series’, where they take their base Hatfield Blonde, and introduce a particular fruit to the mix.

This 355ml can pours a slightly hazy, pink-tinged pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves a bit of streaky cirrus cloud pattern lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, damp wheat crackers, subtle tart bing cherries, and a bit of earthy yeastiness.  The taste is bready and grainy pale malt, a faint red fruitiness, plain yeast, and perhaps a minor sense of weedy, leafy, and floral green hoppiness.  The carbonation is fairly benign in its relaxed-seeming frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and mostly smooth, with nothing here really causing anything near to a fuss.  It finishes off-dry, the mixed malt and fading fruit presiding.

Overall – this certainly comes across as an easy-going, quaffable affair, as the tart cherry essence is restrained, and the base brew does what it does best.  Definitely suited for putting back on a summer patio, as opposed to when I first had it back in December.
